8×8 Mystery art show @ the BOMB

imageAre you ready to purchase a piece of art from a local artist? Join Powell River Friends of the Library at their upcoming 8×8 Anonymous Art Show on Friday, November 27th, starting at 6:00 pm at the BoMB – Bank of Montreal building – in Townsite.

If you are a Friends of the Library member, there is a special pre-viewing taking place from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, with a small admission fee of $10. “You can purchase a membership at the door,” said Friends of the Library spokesperson, Ann Trousdell.

This brilliant fund-raiser has the whole town talking. More than 100 blank 8×8 canvases were sold to the public for $5 each earlier this fall and they’ve now all been returned to be made ready for the upcoming Anonymous Art Show. “Because the canvases will be sold on a strict first come-first served order, you will want to get there as early as possible,” Ann said. “Everyone who attends will be given a number. So, if you are first in the line-up to get in, you will be # 1 and you will be given first choice of paintings.”

There will be a limited time for viewing and purchasers will not know the identity of the artist until after the sale is complete. “Each piece of art is $88 with proceeds going to both the artist and the PR Friends of the Library,” Ann said.

It has been said that beer drinkers love books, too! CAMRA – Campaign for Real Ale – will operate a cash bar at the event featuring homegrown draft craft beer brewed and provided by Townsite Brewing.

If you are unable to attend Friday night, additional viewings will take place Saturday, November 28th and Sunday, November 29th, from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. “This is an opportunity to own an original piece of art by a local artist,” Ann said. “We hope to see you there.”
