Tree Across Hwy 101 Caused a Collision
On November 16th in the early morning hours a 1995 Toyota Tercel collided with a tree that had fallen on the road near Hwy 101 and Hummingbird Cove with enough force to deploy the vehicles airbags. The driver was not injured but the vehicle sustained significant damage.
On November 18th at approximately 2pm a vehicle was stopped by police on Padget Road and Valley Road. The driver did not have a current / valid driver’s license. As a result the vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and the driver was charged for driving while prohibited under the Motor Vehicle Act and was issued a court date.
Damage to vehicle
On November 20th a vehicle was damaged while parked at the Town Centre Mall parking lot at 7100 Alberni St. The damage was believed to be from a shopping cart.
Impaired Driver Caught
On November 20th at approximately 10pm at vehicle was stopped by police on Hwy 101 near Klahanie Road the driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and subsequently failed two separate roadside breathalysers. As a result the vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver licence was seized for 90 days.
Two Businesses Windows Damaged
On November 21st in the early morning hours two business’s windows were damaged. Both of the victimized businesses were gas stations: 7-11 and Chevron. Powell River officers were able to identify and locate the culprit who was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Mischief.
