As I went down to the river

Have you ever wondered what plants cling to the edge of a river or grow within the shelter of it’s banks? Join botanist Ioni Wais on the Riverside Plant Walk on Sunday, December 20th from 10:15 – 11:30 am, and discover for yourself the living mysteries growing amongst the driftwood and rocks just minutes away from Highway 101.

“Powell River is one of the shortest rivers in the world, but short as it may be, it’s rocky banks are lush with botanical wonder,” Ioni said. “This walk will focus on riverside plants, plant families and edible and medicinal uses.”

The Riverside Plant Walk is open to folks of all ages, experts or amateurs. “This is an informal walk through unmarked trails,” Ioni said. “Unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible.”

This is a rain or shine event so dress appropriately and bring your curiosity along with you! Suggested donation of $5 per person.
