Good Food Box Program

imageThe Good Food Box Program brings fresh fruits and vegetables right to your table.

The local program runs entirely on volunteer labour with between 115-150 boxes prepared each month.

Each box contains 10-11 types of fruit and vegetables and the $12 box is considered to be 20-40% higher value than buying items at market.

The food is packaged at the United Church by dedicated volunteers. A local supermarket supplies the food at near cost. A newsletter accompanies the box containing nutritional information and recipes.

Pamphlets about the Good Food Box are available at PREP, BOND, Public Health, Tla’Amin Health and other sites. There is no membership or long-term commitment required. Not a charity, people pay for what goes into their boxes. There may be community donations and support, but the program is run by volunteers and is community centered.

To participate, simply prepay by the 3rd of the month at Town Centre Mall, across from the Overwaitea entrance inside the mall or at Family Place. Pick up or arrange for delivery on the second Wednesday of each month. The cost per box is $12.00 with various pick-up sites including Family Place in Town Centre Mall. Deliveries for the disabled or those without transportation can be arranged.
