Waterpower Investigative Phase, Sliammon Creek, Area A

From the Powell River Regional District Minutes, Regional Board Meeting December, 16 2015. Present: Director Patrick Brabazon, Chair; Director Merrick Anderson; Director Russell Brewer; Director CaroleAnn Leishman; Director Sandy McCormick; Director Colin Palmer; Alt Director Allan Rebane.

P. Brabazon/S. McCormick THAT the Board concur with the recommendation of the Planning Committee to advise FrontCounter BC that the Powell River Regional District has no objection to a 5 year Crown Land Licence for Waterpower Investigative Phase purposes being issued to Sliammon Development Corporation over a 533 hectare area located in the vicinity of Sliammon Lake in Electoral Area A on the condition that:

  1. The applicant undertake as part of the investigative phase of the project a detailed analysis to determine the project footprint and its impact on water quality, wildlife, fish, forests, recreation, other tenure holders and slope/geotechnical stability; and
  2. The Powell River Regional District receive copies of all detailed analysis performed in the investigative phase of the project as well as another referral and opportunity to make further recommendations should this project move beyond an investigative phase.

MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

Clarification: Only the rural directors for areas A-D voted on this motion. The municipal directors and the director for Lasqueti Island did not vote on this as they are not part of the planning service for the PR Regional District. Voting Weight: Directors A-D; unwieghted.
