Food for Thought

Reaching out to others doesn’t mean you need to know all the answers. In fact, you don’t even need to know the question. Being there means being present and available; to listen, to soothe, to ask questions, and to hug and hold someone when they need your comfort. It’s been proven that even a person’s physical presence has healing powers. Also, reaching out to others makes us feel better. Becoming less absorbed and less focused on our own problems is a bonus, as well. A good resolution for the New Year is to learn how to listen, not hear! Then, we will be in a position to really reach out to others.
