MLA Nicholas Simons says:

Following news that the Queen of Burnaby will be removed from service on the Comox-Powell River route for three weeks to repair a broken propeller, MLA Nicholas Simons posted the following:

BC Ferries sold the Queen of Chilliwack to Fiji for an “undisclosed” amount, said to be a rock-bottom price (less than $500,000 I’m told – I hope I’m wrong about that). According to the new owner, Fiji’s Prime Minister Bainimarama was “impressed with the vessel’s state-of-the-art facilities and high standard conditions,” after all, it had recently had over $20 million put into it. Well now there is no ship adequate to replace the Island Sky which is replacing the Queen of Burnaby on the Comox-Powell River run, so poor planning is once again causing hardship to Sunshine Coast residents and businesses. Residents deserve better. Our public transportation system should be run in a way that serves the public interest.
