Vandalism Complaints

Powell River RCMP are investigating a pair of vandalism complaints that happened on January 8th and 9th. The first incident was reported on January 8th at approx. 4:45 p.m. A witness observed two youth spray painting the side of the Powell River Curling Rink. Police attended but the suspects were not located. They are described as youths, 1 wearing a black hoodie and 1 wearing a grey hoodie.

The next incident occurred that night or the early morning hours of January 9th. Police attended DA Evans Park where the score keepers booth had been spray painted with a person’s name. The subsequent investigation ruled out the person whose name was spray painted as a suspect.

Hit and Run

On January 6th, 2016 at approx. 6:45 p.m. police received a report of a hit and run that had occurred in the 3500 block of Hwy 101 near Sliammon. A 2004 Dodge sedan was turning left off of the highway when a northbound Minivan passed the sedan on the left, striking the front driver’s side of the car with its rear passenger side bumper. The Minivan continued driving north. The sedan sustained minimal damage. The suspect vehicle is described as a red Dodge Minivan and it should have damage to it’s right rear bumper.
