Thursday, January 21st, 2016, the Powell River RCMP issued the following media release.
On January 6th, 2016 at approximately 4:20 pm an 11 year old male was walking north on the west sidewalk, along Joyce Ave, Powell River, BC, in front of the McDonald’s restaurant.
At that time, a male seated in the driver seat of a pick up truck parked in front of McDonald’s facing Joyce Avenue, asked the young male if he wanted some candy. The young male declined and continued on his way.
The male in the pickup is described as approximately 18-20 years old, with short dark hair. The pickup truck is described as a dirty, black, early 90’s model, similar to a Ford Ranger, with a black canopy. There were no other occupants in the pick up. The unknown male did not speak with the young male any further and never got out of the vehicle.
Police would like to speak with the male in the pick up and are requesting that anyone with information regarding this incident contact Powell River RCMP or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
