Are you interested in being One in a Thousand?
“The idea is simple enough,” a PR Friends of the Library spokesperson said. “If we could find 1000 people in the region willing to contribute $100 each to help stock the new Library with new items, we’d make it to our $100,000 fundraising goal just like that! Every $100 contribution nets you five Book Plates. This is a great way to honour special people in your life and community.”
If you, or your friends or family, are interested in being One in a Thousand, there are several ways to participate:
- you can contribute online at http://prfriends.ca/one-in-1000/#sign-me-up;
- you can leave $100 cash or cheque at the Powell River Public Library (cheques should be payable to “Powell River Public Library” in order to get a tax receipt for your contribution).
Come and join PR Friends of the Library at their upcoming HOT SOUP SPECIAL on February 11th to learn more about the One in a Thousand campaign and their goal to put 5,000 new books and resources on the shelves for Opening Day of the new Library.
The HOT SOUP SPECIAL takes place at Fruits & Roots Cafe at Ecossentials, 6812 Alberni Street on Thursday, February 11th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
$20 gets you two tasty soups, bread, flavoured butters, a juice-infused Raincoast Kombucha mocktail, musical accompaniment, and witty, engaged, sparkling conversation.
You’ll also walk away with beautiful hand-crafted potholders – first come, first choice. See you there!
