Commercial Recycling Pilot Project

A pilot project expanding free recycling services for all Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) operators is currently underway, February 2nd to April 30th, in Powell River.

This program was previously available to residents only but starting this week the Town Centre Recycling Depot will be opened to the ICI sector for a three month feasibility pilot project. The Town Centre Recycling Depot is the only depot currently involved with the program.

ICI operators should look for the bins marked COMMERCIAL RECYCLING from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Accepted materials include: Paper * Cardboard * Containers (Metal, Paper, Plastic $ Glass) * Plastic Bags & Overwrap * Styrofoam * See recyclingbc.ca for more details.

Batteries * Ziplock Bags * Cellphones * Small Appliances * Pens * Markers * Highlighters * Natural cork * Cracker & Cookie Overwrap * Clothing & Accessories * See powellriverrd.bc.ca (Under Community Services) for more details.

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling (4484 Franklin Ave.) also accepts some commercial recycling, including paper, cardboard and #2 plastic. Commercial metal can be brought to any scrap metal dealer free of charge.
