The Powell River Regional District, Sliammon First Nation and City of Powell River agreed to proceed with an Expanded Regional Recreation Initiative Study to examine the possibilities, prospects and ramifications of a comprehensive parks, recreation and culture service embracing the three communities.
Now is the time for all residents throughout the Powell River Regional District area to have their say. A community-wide survey has been developed. All citizens residing in Powell River Regional District, the Sliammon First Nation and the City of Powell River are urged to fill in the survey and help the three governments more fully understand what residents think about and what they would like to see for parks, recreation and cultural services throughout the next ten years. The information will lead to an expanded study report later this spring.
Paper copies are available at Powell River City Hall and the Powell River Recreation Complex. There will also be four survey kiosks available for the month-long duration of the survey. Two of the kiosks will be available at the Powell River Complex, and for details on the locations of the other two kiosks on a given day, please check the City of Powell River website. As an incentive for participating in the survey, a $500 MasterCard gift prize will be issued to one lucky winner.
