The following summarizes the February 18th, j2016 Regular Council meeting. Council Meeting Highlights – February 18, 2016

Mayor Formosa proclaimed the week of February 16-20 as Heritage Week.

City of Powell River Audit Plan
Council received the Audit Plan from BDO Canada for the audit of the City of Powell River financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2015.

Free Drop In access to the Recreation Complex
Council referred the matter of free drop in access to the Recreation Complex for RCMP and Victim Services staff to the Committee of the Whole.

Insurance for contract instructors at the Recreation Complex
Council approved obtaining a blanket Municipal Insurance Association liability insurance policy for contract instructors at the Recreation Complex.

Emergency Program Act Amendments
Council approved the Powell River Regional District Manager of Emergency Services to provide input to the provincial government regarding proposed Emergency Program Act Amendments.

Brewer Lounge Endorsement
Council referred the matter of the issuance of a brewery lounge endorsement for the Townsite Brewery to staff to confirm that by opting out of the public information process the City would not be in violation on Liquor Control and Licensing Act.

Public Hearing Report
Council accepted the Public Hearing Report dated February 4, 2016 regarding Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2435, 2016.

Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2435
Council gave third reading and adopted Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2435, a bylaw to rezone a vacant parcel on Kemano Street from Compact Residential Zone (RM1) and Single Family Residential Zone (R1) to solely Compact Residential Zone (RM1).
