14 GOLD 8 SILVER 9 BRONZE – Island Clash


Students from Powell River’s Canadian Martial Arts Academy  hauled home a load of medals this past weekend following the Island Clash Open Tournament, held in Victoria.The students, under the guidance of Sensei Clayton, competed in kata, weapons, point sparring, continuous sparring, and team sparring events.




Bringing home trophies and medals from the Island Clash and Rodney Hobsen Kata and Kumite Championships: Tyler Henry 1 Gold; Annika Van Vliet 2 Silver; Zack Burton 1 Silver and 1 Gold.

McKenna Long – Gold, Silver and Bronze
Sawyer Grace – Silver
Matthew Ure – Gold
Cole Mostat – Bronze
Carter Mostat – Silver and Bronze
Kolten Laine – Gold and Silver
Chloe Labree – 2 Gold
Tyler Zakkour – 2 Gold and 1 Bronze
Devin Cleghorn – 2 Gold **
Kaiden Wall – 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
Carson Mode – 2 Silver and 1 Bronze


All together, the Canadian Martial Arts Academy students from Powell River earned 14 Gold, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals in the weekend competition.
