Rapt attention – MP Rachel Blaney

Adrienne Morani, of First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition, addresses concerns over rising child poverty rates in BC with MP Rachel Blaney at last night’s panel discussion on child poverty issues held at Trinity Hall. Morani says the provincial and federal governments share responsibility for failing the country’s children, particularly in BC where the rate of poverty has climbed above the national average and affects 1 in 5 kids. In Powell River the statistics are even higher – close to 1/3 of this community’s children are at risk and living below the poverty line.
