Impaired Driver Caught
On March 8th at approximately 3:30pm an impaired driver was caught by police in the 4700 block of Bowness Avenue in Powell River. The driver was found a have a blood alcohol level of more than double the legal limit. As a result the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours, the driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the driver is facing the criminal code charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
On March 11th at approximately 4:00pm a vehicle was stopped by police near Manson Avenue and Cranberry Street. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and did not have current drivers license. As a result the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and faces a possible criminal charges for driving under the influence. Also the vehicle was impounded for 24 hours and the driver was issued an administrative driving prohibition.
A bike has been reported stolen from the area of Chilcotin Ave and Covey Street. The bikes described at a Gray 2005 Giant STP2 Mountain bike. (approx. $800 dollar value) If anyone has information about the whereabouts of this bike please contact the Powell River RCMP
On March 13th a vehicle was stopped by police on Burnaby Street near Harvie Avenue. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and subsequently failed two roadside breathalyzers. As a result the vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver’s license was seized for 90 days.
