RCMP Weekly Update


For the week of March 21st – March 29th 2016

Total Calls for Service = 83
Impaired Driving = 4
Assaults = 1
Break and Enters = 1
Thefts = 2
Mischief = 2

Theft from Vehicle

Between March 8th and March 21st a ½ inch light bar was stolen from a GMC Sierra pickup truck while parked at Saltery Bay. The light was a duel beam Cree light valued at over $200 dollars.

Impaired driver Caught

On March 22nd 2016 a Red Chevrolet Malibu vehicle was stopped for speeding and for failing to stop at a stop sign in the 6200 Block of Poplar Street. The driver demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and subsequently failed two separate portable roadside breathalysers. As a result the vehicle was impounded for 30 days and drivers licence was seized for 90 days.

Theft of Charity Box

On March 20th at approximately 7pm a Charity Box was stolen from A@W restaurant. The donation box was believed to contain $150 to $200 dollars cash.

It’s believed that this theft was associated to a similar theft that occurred at Tim Hortons restaurant:

On March 17th a donation box was stolen from Tim Hortons. It’s estimated the donation box contained approximately $200 dollars primarily in coin. The Powell River RCMP are reviewing the establishment’s video surveillance.

Theft from Vehicle

Between March 23rd and March 24th a Nikon camera, a vTech volt meter and approximately $6 in loose change was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked on the street in the 4500 Block of Fernwood Ave.
