T & R Contracting is a one-stop shop with all the services needed to help you build your home or commercial building from foundations through to landscaping. “If you are building a house we have the equipment to clear the property, dig the basement, and build the foundation,” said Shaun Gloslee, one of four partners in T&R. “We have sand and aggregate as well as garden products for landscaping, to complete your project.”
T & R Contracting is owned and operated by long-time local business owners Shaun and Raeann Gloslee and Dan and Bonnie Robinson. Shaun and Dan worked together over the years when Shaun and Raeann owned Shaun Gloslee Excavating and Dan and Bonnie owned Rural Septic Services. They purchased T & R a year and a half ago, combined their businesses with their new venture, and haven’t looked back. Their business keeps growing and growing.
T & R own and operate the sand pit at the back of Cranberry Lake as well as a rock quarry at West Lake. They purchased a stone slinger to meet the needs of their customers and it has been put to good use.
“We can haul sand from the Cranberry pit and rock from the quarry and make a number of products including crushed rock, round rock, navijack, rip rap and road mulch,” Shaun said.”With the stone slinger we can place the product anywhere in your yard you want it, even hard to reach places.” T & R also stocks lava rock, limestone products and river rock as well as popular soil blends and garden mulch.
For local gardeners, T & R’s line of yard and garden products is second to none. “Our garden products are top of the line,” Bonnie said. “We have organic soil amender shipped in from Harvest Power in the Lower Mainland that we mix with sand from our Cranberry pit. We custom make the Garden Blend and Turf Blend soils according to Harvest Power’s specifications and provide it to customers by the yard or by the bucket load.”
Mushroom manure and fish compost round out the soil products available at T & R, and customers may want to top it off with one of their excellent mulch products. “We have Aged Mulch made from white wood and cedar, Fir Mulch that consists entirely of fir and cedar mulch, which is only cedar.
Dan Robinson is pretty proud of the new venture and some of the great, new products T & R is able to supply. “We now stock sand bags that customers can use to make a vegetative retaining wall,” Dan said. “And we’ve also teamed up with Hyland Precast in Courtenay to provide concrete septic tanks, well rings, distribution boxes and catch basins; it’s exciting to be able to offer access to this new market to our Powell River customers.”
