T&R Contracting – Four Companies, One Easy Call

imageT & R Contracting is a one-stop shop with all the services needed to help you build your home or commercial building from foundations through to landscaping. “If you are building a house we have the equipment to clear the property, dig the basement, and build the foundation,” said Shaun Gloslee, one of four partners in T&R. “We have sand and aggregate as well as garden products for landscaping, to complete your project.”

T & R Contracting is owned and operated by long-time local business owners Shaun and Raeann Gloslee, with Shaun Gloslee Excavating, and Dan and Bonnie Robinson, with Rural Septic Services. Shaun and Dan worked together on many projects over the years including their first joint business, Coast Hydro Excavating Ltd. Two years ago when the opportunity came up to purchase T&R Contracting all four business partners knew they had found the perfect business to complement their existing operations. “T&R Contracting seemed the perfect fit for us,” said Bonnie Robinson. “Now our customers can reach four great companies with one easy call.”

T & R Contracting own and operate three sites including the Cranberry Lake sand pit, which is closed to customers, the West Lake quarry, which is also closed to customers, and the West Lake Pit, open to customers and site of the existing yard. “That’s where we welcome customers to shop for all of our products and services,” Bonnie said. “We easily accommodate residential, commercial and industrial customers. All are welcome to drop in.”

“We can haul sand from the Cranberry pit and rock from the quarry and offer a number of products including crushed rock, round rock, Navvy Jack, pea gravel, masonry sand, washed sand, rip rap and road mulch,” Shaun said. T & R Contracting also stocks river rock and Texada limestone as well as popular soil blends and garden mulch.

For local gardeners, T & R Contracting’s line of yard and garden products is second to none. “We have Soil Amender produced at a composting facility in Richmond through a company called Harvest,” Bonnie said. “The compost is rich in organic matter and nutrients and is weed free. We co-brand with Harvest to make garden and turf blend soils that are ready to use. We do this by mining sand from our Cranberry Lake pit, screening and then mixing it to Harvest specifications.” To learn more about Harvest, visit harvestpower.com/bc.

The popular Soil Amender, Garden and Turf blend soils are available by the yard or by the pail price. Customers can visit the site with their own containers to fill up, or have T&R Contracting deliver the product. “Actually buying the soil blends by the pail works out to be more economical than purchasing large bags of soil mixtures,” Bonnie said. “And when it’s purchased by the pail or yard you don’t have to dispose a bunch of empty plastic bags.”

Mushroom manure and fish compost round out the soil products available at T & R, and customers may want to top it off with one of their excellent mulch products. “We have three varieties including fir, cedar and aged mulch and now, due to customer demand, we have decorative bark nuggets,” Bonnie added.image

Dan Robinson is proud of the partners’ two newest ventures – Hyland Precast Cement Products and Flex MSE Vegetated Wall System. “T&R Contracting has teamed up with Hyland Precast Products from Courtenay and will be offering that company’s line of products,” Dan said. “They supply everything from driveway clean-outs, highway and bumper curbs, service boxes to manholes and more. We are also offering FlexMSE Vegetated Wall Systems and green engineering products that provide solutions for waterways and slopes.”

You can see it all at the Powell River Home Show this weekend, at the PR Recreation Complex – Friday, April 29th from 4:00 – 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 30th from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
