It was a grand weekend for the Powell River Home and Garden Show – sunshine outside and sunny thoughts indoors. “We thought it was the best Home and Garden Show, ever,” said local resident Sandy Currie. “The organizers did a wonderful job. The booths and displays were fantastic and the food, well, it was simply outstanding!”
Kevan Robitaille and Tracy Raftl from the Powell River Climbing Gym offered memberships and t-shirts at their booth. The Climbing Gym is getting lots of support from local businesses and are proceeding with their Townsite project.
Valley Building Supplies offered on-the-spot photographs at their popular Photo Booth. Costumes and props were optional.
Surrounded by highrises and apartment buildings, local realtor Val Griffiths from Royal LePage Realty, holds a ‘public open house’ at the PR Recreation Complex’s Home and Garden Show, held last weekend in Powell River.
The display units were lovingly hand-built – special for the Home and Garden Show by Val’s parents, Bert and Lil Baillie.
The pair have been responsible for many hand-built models, including a tepee, igloo, fale, log cabin and gypsy wagon, complete with horses.
All the models have been displayed at the Royal LePage realtor’s booth at previous PR Home and Garden Shows.
This year the Powell River Home and Garden Show announced the following winners:
Grand Prize #1 – Ryan Newman
Grand Prize #2 – Melinda Yuhem
LEGO Construction Contest: Category A – Jorja Rogers; Category B – Ilia McKamey; Category C – Richard Reinisch; Category D – Relish Interiors
Best Booth: Personal Touch Floor & Window Fashions
The organizers of the 2016 Powell River Home and Garden Show are very appreciative for everyone’s participation. “Thank you to all our sponsors and all of the vendors for making the show possible,” said Leah Rourke, PR Home and Garden Association President.
