Male Arrested For Drug Trafficking
RCMP File: 2016-1640
On April 27th at approximately 10:00am a concerned member of the public reported to police that a male later identified as Matthew MOREHOUSE had “passed out” in the driver’s seat of a 2005 4-door blue Buick sedan in the local McDonalds parking lot located in the 4800 block of Joyce Ave. Police attended and could see various drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Matthew MOREHOUSE was detained and refused to comply at the RCMP’s request to test his sobriety/impairment. A subsequent search of the vehicle located what’s believed to be both Cocaine and Heroin packaged for the purpose of selling.
The Powell River RCMP have recommended the following to charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Drug /Substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to sections 5(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Refusal / Failing to provide a breath / blood sample contrary to section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Stolen Credit Card Used At Multiple Businesses In Powell River
RCMP File: 2016-1656
During the Day of April 27th 2016 a stolen Credit Card was used at total of 12 times in Powell River at multiple businesses, totaling over $500 dollars. The Powell River RCMP are conducting an investigation with includes reviewing all available video surveillance in attempt to identify and locate the culprit.
