Jessica Wollen is the founder and CEO of Shift Education. Grounded in values of safety, respect and collaboration, Jessica has been actively involved in working with children and youth with diverse abilities since 1995. She is know for the dynamic presence and humour that she brings to her workshops. She is a Teacher and Certified Sexual Health Educator by trade, with a degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Minor in Learning Disabilities. Jessica teaches body science and sexual health education workshops to professionals, parents and both typical and special needs children and youth. She is a dedicated mother of two boys.
Jessica’s “Askable Adult” workshops provide parents with tools for navigating the tricky area of sexual health and Internet safety for children and youth. She also works with caregivers, staff members and clients of the Down Syndrome Society and Developmental Disabilities Association to foster health and appropriate sexual expression.
In 2013, she facilitated workshops for the Sto:lo First Nation and at the BC Association of First Nations Youth Forum. As a settler, Jessy recognizes her privilege and strives to leverage it in creating healing and reconciliation from the pain of colonization and abuse.
This “Askable Adult” workshop presentation will include:
- Sunday, May 29th, starting at 12:00, noon: This four hour body science and sexual health education workshop presentation helping parents and caregivers of children and youth with cognitive and neurodevelopmental challenges prepare and share this knowledge with their children.
- Monday, May 30th: Jessica will give three separate (age appropriate) sessions to their children/youth/young adults. (NOTE: Parent/care-giver MUST attend Sunday presentation for child/youth/to be able to attend on Monday.
