Legendarium: A noun, recently added to the Oxford English Dictionary, meaning a literary collection of legends, particularly those detailing the life of a saint.

The collected high fantasy writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, his legendarium, is the term for the entirety of Tolkien’s mythopoetic writing that forms the background to his The Lord of the Rings.

Use in a sentence: Tolkien worked and reworked the components of his legendarium throughout his adult life, over a period of 50 years.
